“Hoosiers – Calling You Home!” the theme for this year’s parade, sets the tone as bands, floats, firefighters, police units, dancers, and so many more step off downtown to celebrate our Nation’s birth.

La Porte’s community traditions and history of innovation runs deep. Did you know La Porte, Indiana was the first city in the world to adopt an automatic telephone exchange in 1892? This automated phone system allowed calls to be routed without a switchboard operator, helping people become better connected.

Generations of Hoosiers have gathered at the annual 4th of July Parade in La Porte to make lasting connections – with family, friends, and the community. Like the telephone, the parade keeps getting better with time! Whether you attended last year’s parade, or it’s been several years, this year’s parade is calling you home!
